How long have you been in business?
I have been in business for a little under a year. My business is literary. The first book is titled MEMOIRS OF A FORGOTTEN CHILD that sheds light to the taboo topic sexual abuse. I also offer advice services on sexual trauma for those who have experienced it or are involved with someone who is currently battling its effects. Soon I will be expanding into a t-shirt line that will address Rape Culture and a cleansing wash product.
What is your primary product or service?
MEMOIRS OF A FORGOTTEN CHILD. It's the product that sells the most.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
After having an intimate conversation with my sister and other women, I realize that telling my truth is the best way I can help other people speak theirs so we can break the walls of shame, guilt, and fear stemming from sexual abuse. My expertise is in trauma. I earned by Bachelors Degree in Psychology, and I took many courses related to trauma.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I give you the real deal from a survivor's point of view as well as a clinical point of view. I'm the perfect balance of realism and professionalism. Most people read and talk about trauma from a second-hand experience, but as a survivor, I know the difficulties of Overcoming trauma, and as a student of psychology, I know why it's difficult.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Currently, I'm online. On November 19th, 2016 I will be holding Paint Your Truth, a FREE event for sexual assault survivors at the Hyde Park Library. Soon I hope to expand into a public space where I get to reach more people.
