How long have you been in business?
American Board of Abdominal Surgery was founded in 1957 and Chartered in 1958.
What is your primary product or service?
The American Board of Abdominal Surgery, once all appropriate application and requested data are approved by committee, will administer a two part examination; first part being a written examination and if passed, the applicant will sit for an oral examination/interview by some of our Surgical Education and Executive Committee members.
ABAS urges all surgeons engaged in abdominal surgery or a specific area of abdominal surgery be qualified and proficient in all phases of surgery within the abdominal cavity. Urologists, gynecologists and vascular surgeons who perform abdominal surgery could qualify to sit for certification by the American Board of Abdominal Surgery.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Hour home office is in Massachusetts and our members are across the US and international. Our sister organization the American Society of Abdominal Surgeons, Inc. runs continuing medical education seminars and clinical congress' throughout the US but primarily in Florida.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
We've been told our continuing medical education conferences run by our sister organization ASAS are World Class and extremely informative as well as being enjoyable with not only lectures but task training and live-stream interactive surgery.
