Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Nami Spa opened on February 19, 2007. We were open for only six months when the business was destroyed by an improperly installed air conditioning compressor and subsequent sprinkler activation. Nami Spa reopened on October 24, 2007.
What is your primary product or service?
Nami Spa is a full service day spa and hair salon. We have a full array of massage, facial, skin care, waxing, nail and hair services. We avoid harsh chemicals so there are no perms or ionic hair straightening services.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Owner Nicole Mills wanted a career change after working in the corporate world and in the dental field. She was inspired after the untimely death of her father at age 47 to help people live a healthier life with less stress.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Nami Spa is unlike other spas in Boston in that the owners looked East for their inspiration. The spa was inspired by Japanese philosophies which is reflected in the simple zen-like atmosphere and in the natural products used.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Nami Spa is located in the South End of Boston. There are no plans to expand any time in the near future.
