I have been in the field of Divorce Mediation, Decision Making, Family and Business Mediation for 34 years. I have been in the field of psychotherapy or counseling for 41 years.
What is your primary product or service?
Divorce Mediation, Separation, Custody and Financial Mediation, Decision Making Mediation with regard to the future of personal and business relationships. I am an author of a book on mediation decision making and an upcoming book "The 7 Visual Steps of Highly Effective Negotiation".
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Seeing the inequities and injustices in the judicial system for divorcing couples convinced me to be a pioneer in bringing divorce mediation to Massachusetts. I was one of four co-founders of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation in 1982, a co-founder of The Negotiation Collaborative in 1979. I studied negotiation at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard University in 1980, at the Academy of Family Mediators, N.Y. in 1982 and have continuing education at least monthly in family law related matters, mediation, financial aspects of divorce from the MCFM, MCLE, BBA etc. I have a BA in Social Sciences, and a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychiatric Social Work from Simmons College in 1972 and a certificate in Family Psychotherapy from the Boston Family Institute in 1973.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I have invented, designed and redefined a Collaborative Mediation practice in which a collaborative financial specialist may come into a session fto gain information and return with graphs r.e. how long each partner's assets and incomes will last over the long haul, not just a snap shot of what might look good to them in the present. The collaborative attorney is at the end of the telephone line to answer questions about recent cases and longer term cases decided in court which create legal precedents.
