In 1973, Chotsie (Starr) Allen started to reproduce a pottery that she grew fond of as a child. The Dedham Pottery, a suburban family pottery that produced the ware that Chotsie loved so much, had ceased operations in the early 1940's. And so began her passion to revitalize the "Dedham Tradition".
Chotsie's home hobby grew with the speed of a bunny's lair! In 1977, she was joined by two of her four sons and incorporated as The Potting Shed, Inc. Fueled by a solid customer base among family, friends and neighbors "The Shed" was soon distributing its products nationwide and to some of the most prestigious retailers in the country.
